There is a light at the end of my tunnel

I've been on the board for a week or so but I only have good things to

report today.

My first surgery was 26th of April and due to hardware failure I had a

second surgery 12 May, (wired shut) one week later I had an

infection. It just didn't feel like I was ever going to make it to the

other side. Yesterday I had a follow up with the OS and things seemed

to be good he surprised me and said let get these wires off. He told

me after the surgery that I would be wired for 8 weeks. So I was

delighted that after only 2.5 weeks I would be free. I was so afraid

that he would take the wires off and my jaw would not be right. ( I

love my DR, I call him my boy friend) It was so wonderful he cut the

wires and said to close my eyes, he gave me a mirrior and said " to

open my mouth,then close, now look in the mirror. They are

perfect!!!!! " I was so happy I started to cry. He also said that he

thought maybe by Aug I would be out of my braces. I just can't believe

that after everything that has gone wrong the last 6 weeks that it has

all come together so well.

I'm a little afraid to be working my jaw, I have to stretch it every

10 or 15 minutes. It is a bit painful but after only one day I can

already see that I can open more. I am so looking forward to eating again.
