Guest guest
Thanks for the reply and advice and Annette. My son has a Hanger band, and as I said not much at all has been shaved out of it at all. One area that was shaved was the top part becasue his head was growing at the top! I just keep worrying lately about how can his head grow, and he does still have redness at the base of the skull, it does go away but since it has evened out there it seems like there should not be so much pressure needed there. I think I may ask about shaving some more out there. It makes me feel better though to hear that some of the bands do not need as much shaved out. le 7 mos From: annettemarek <annettemarek@...>Subject: Re: when shaving foam out of band?Plagiocephaly Date: Monday, January 11, 2010, 3:46 PM le,my daughter is also in a starband and we just went for her first visit at 7 weeks and the only shaving they have done thus far is a little on her cheek becuase it was getting a little red there but no other shaving. As far as the base of the skull my daughter's helmet is not tight there, in fact, i was a bit concerned as the helmet felt a little loose to me becuase when it hit her shoulders it would move. I was also told that there would not be much shaving between appointments. I am happy to say that we have seen great improvements in 7 weeks particularly because she was 13 months old when we banded. It's my understanding that it is normal to have some mild redness at the pressure points but I thought it should go away once you take the helmet off. I also don't think there is a much shaving with the starband as compared with the docband. Guest guest
le, The Hanger bands are supposed to be similar to the STARbands. Is it a plagio or a brachy band. My daughter had a brachy band and I could stick my fingers up the back of the band. Also, you can tell where it's tighter by where the foam of the band gets dirty. In our case, I could see that the back of the band was still completely white so I didn't need to worry. I'm not sure how the plagio bands compare because one side of the back should be tighter than the other. In our case, it's just the sides that are tight and the back had the big wide space for the growth to occur. when shaving foam out of band?> >> >> >> > this may be a dumb question but I am really curious about others experience> > with this. Guest guest
, it is a plagio band, and he's had great correction so far, in fact the base of his head now appears even, whereas it was uneven befor. So she shaved some out of the whole bottom last time, but it is still very red on the whole bottom,(and gets a tad darker there) thats why it doesn't make sense to me for it to be so tight there . We are going on vacation tomorow, I am going to take him to an ortho office when we get there and see if they can shave out some more on the bottom. hmm, now that I think about it , again its the bottom thats tight and also the top was, she shaved out the top (where the hole is) so thats why I feel like maybe its too tight?? he is almost done with it, (but like I said almost no foam shaved out) we're just trying to get a little more flatness gone and even out the forehead(which doesn't look promising to me) so I'm wondering myself when to give up. We'll see what they say when I take him in there. ~le 7 mos From: annettemarek <annettemarek>Subject: Re: when shaving foam out of band?PlagiocephalyDate: Monday, January 11, 2010, 3:46 PM le,my daughter is also in a starband and we just went for her first visit at 7 weeks and the only shaving they have done thus far is a little on her cheek becuase it was getting a little red there but no other shaving.
