Guest guest
Thank you Amber and everyone else who responded to my post about flu shots. I am surprised to hear about the pneumonia vaccine and wondered if you know why. Maybe it is just to be safer. I grew up on flu shots as my Mom was a nurse and she'd bring them home every year. Then right after the birth of my 2nd child I got a bad case of the flu and was down a long time. I remember it so well. I figured that gave me immunity for a while, but that has been almost 11 years ago and I just moved to a new area so I am going in today. Amber, if you know why the pneumonia, will you let us know? Thanks so much. Guest guest
I get flu shots for both of my granddaughters (now 13 and 10)on recommendation of their allergy doc. Both girls have asthma and he says they must have flu shot because of that so they have been given the flu shot for the past three years (then 10 and 7). And....their insurance pays for it after an explaination. Alice The Loon RNY 12/28/00 > I am surprised to hear you had flu shots as a child. Not to question your mom but children need to build up some sort of immunities on their own. As far as I know, no one under 18 can receive a flu shot. Of course, this is only what health care providers have told me. > Dawn
Guest guest
Nope, Dawn, though I disagree with it, my daughter's pediatrician's office has brochures that show the dosages for two month olds with high risk for flu problems. Of course, I am against this vaccine because it contains the potent neurotoxin Thimersol (elemental mercury), especially for children who will already be getting over 100 times the amount of mercury considered " safe " by the FDA if they have their normal shots, Z Open RNY 09/17/01 http://www.ziobro.us Re: Re: Flu Shot & Pneumonia I am surprised to hear you had flu shots as a child. Guest guest
Okay, I stand corrected. This is only what I was told when my children were younger...they are 13, 16 and 18 now. I suppose things in medicine change rather quickly. When they were small, the chicken pox vaccination had just come out. They wouldn't allow that either. Said the kids would have to get boosters every year. Dawn
