Guest guest
Hi Diane, OK, to answer your questions: I stayed at the Hotel, which is at the corner of Second and Virginia in Seattle. It's two short blocks to the north end of the Pike Place Market, and also very close to all downtown shopping. It's a budget hotel, nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced. It's a large, old hotel -- think " vintage charm. " There is one desk clerk on duty and I found them all very nice. http://www.moorehotel.com/ There's no room service but there IS maid service (and they do a good job). They don't have alarm clocks or air conditioning, but we did have a TV and phone. I had a large suite with two (comfy) queen beds, private bath and a kitchenette with a stove and fridge, for less than $80 a night. That's a screamin' deal when you consider that the only other hotels that close to the market are in the $200+ range. The tradeoff for having a fridge was that we had a lot of street noise. The room was two floors over a bar and so we got to listen to the drunken morons yelling stuff at 2 a.m., as well as sirens, dump trucks, etc. The Belltown neighborhood is mildly seedy. We didn't have any problems, but I wouldn't want to be out after dark alone. The is two miles from Dr. West's office; about a $10 cab ride. Overall, I was very pleased and felt it was a great home away from home for my eight nights. I plan to stay there again when I go back for my six-week post-op, and probably future Seattle visits as well. Luna
