Guest guest
Had upper, lower, genio on Jan. 17. Was wired then rubber banded. Still sore, still eating soft foods, still have limited opening. Went to my ortho today for monthly appt. She had me wearing 2 rubber bands in the very front (all the time) and 2 rubber bands in the very back (those at night only). The rubber bands in the back were to try and help my teeth touch in the back as they aren't at all now. Had to wear rubber bands in the front b/c the first time she had me wear rubber bands in the back only my bite started to open up. So long story short she now tells me to wear NO rubber bands and to see what happens, she tells me my jaw is unstable and that she wants to see where my teeth settle. She said when I bite only half of one tooth on the left side actually touches, the rest is all open bite in the back. She says she doesn't know if she can get these teeth to touch as the rubber bands in the back don't seem to be doing the job. During my surgery my top jaw per my surgeon was very very thin, see through and crumbling so apparently he couldn't move things around the way he anticipated so now my teeth don't seem to be fitting together the way they should. So I asked my ortho do you think my teeth will ever come together and she hesitates and says she doesn't know. So now I'm like then the surgery was a failure then and it seems like I've been through this hell for no reason. She said I'll probably have a slight open bite and teeth that don't touch in the back. This is where I was before surgery except I had a big open bite. The whole reason for surgery was to fix all this and b/c I was told I am wearing out my jaw, joints, etc. and had TMJ pain. I feel awful now and now I am worried how my teeth will move with no rubber bands. I've also been experiencing awful headaches from the aching on the left side of my jaw that starts at my lower jaw and goes up to my head. I told her about this and she said maybe it is from the rubber bands and to see if they get better. I told her I am still very sore from the surgery too. So tomorrow I have an appointment with my oral surgeon and I am going to bring up all of this and ask his opinion and I think him and her should talk about how to fix this situation. This is soooo crazy! Has anybody else had this problem of their teeth not fitting properly. This is my 5th time in braces, I've had them on over a year and half this time and my ortho tells me she has no idea when I'll be getting mine off. This has been a total nightmare. I still feel like mask face woman with the tightness in my lower and chin area and I am still soooo sore and I really can't take these headaches every day.
