Guest guest
Okay, I'm not sure that this will work, but I've uploaded a bunch of pictures to my flickr account. Here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11835424@N06/ I've included a bunch of wet hair and dry hair pictures because I want to know what people think about how she looks with both dry and wet hair. We are all good critics of heads and so I know that all of you will be able to see her brachy. Some of the pictures also really point out that flat spot that I contantly talk about. But, how many of you think that you would be able to pick her out among other toddlers as a child with brachy (if you didn't already know this)? And, would you be thinking that this child could have benefited from a helmet? In other words, how close to normal does she look. Go ahead and be honest. It's hard to totally capture everything with pictures, but this is my attempt to do so. , mom to , 29 months STARband grad May 2009 Chiro and CST land
Guest guest
I love these ponytails! She looks really good, her face is nice and long, I think even with wet hair her head looks normal and I think nobody can really tell she had brachy. Guest guest
Hi, Before I knew about heads, I wouldn't have noticed anything unusual about 's head. She is adorable and the pigtails are cute! Now I can see that the width to length proportion is higher than average, but it looks okay.  The back of 's head has more curvature than what I see in untreated brachy heads. Her head is nice and symmetrical. The helmet and treatments helped tons! There is a girl in 's class who wore a helmet much younger for brachy and I don't see the funny angles on 's head that I see on this girl's head. I see the flat spot you wrote about,. I see it on a lot of people. 's is bigger than average, but it doesn't look bad. I see a lot worse brachy heads in public.  I bet 's head looks better than most heads with the same brachy measurement. Guest guest
Hi , You have nothing to worry about. Her head looks great. As a mom with a plagio/brachy son, I can see the remnants of what you are talking about. But I sincerely believe that no one with an untrained eye would think anything looks different. You have such a beautiful little girl! > > > > Okay, I'm not sure that this will work, but I've uploaded a bunch of pictures to my flickr account. Guest guest
, I consider myself an " expert " at spotting any flaws in head shape. My son started treatment with a DOC Band at an early age to correct severe Brachy. He's currently in his 3rd band which was not recommended by CT. I had to push a bit, but we got did. Anyway, I say this because I understand how you feel about wanting your daughter to have as normal of a head shape as possible. I have noticed that many parents are satisfied with a certain level of improvement for their child, treatment is stopped or a 2nd band not sought and they move on with their life. I'm not one of these parents, although sometimes I wish I was! Life would be much less stressful. So I totally understand where you are coming from. Let me first tell you the positive things that I see in 's case in comparison to most babies/children with Brachy both banded/not banded. 1. Her forehead is not wide or abnormally tall. 2. Her ears do not protrude. 3. She does not have noticeable posterior head height. 4. Her ears are set in a normal location (not low). 5. Her width is the widest towards the back of her head, not towards the front. The only time picture that I could clearly see the brachy was in the birds eye image with dry hair. The birds eye images with wet hair look better, so that is a positive thing. Even with my trained eye, I do not notice 's head shape as looking that much different than other children. I have no doubt that anyone other than us head shape obsessed parents would ever notice anything wrong with 's head. I am being totally honest with you when I say that. I know how hard this can be, but she really does not look abnormal in any way. > > > > Okay, I'm not sure that this will work, but I've uploaded a bunch of pictures to my flickr account. Guest guest
I think s head looks great! I honestly would never notice anything unusual about her head, and very much think no one else would. Since my son has plagio I am more intuned to seeing that than brachy, but maybe that also tells you that from the standpoint of someone who would not even know what to look for, they would never notice anything. I think she has had wonderful improvement and looks just great!! le > > > > Okay, I'm not sure that this will work, but I've uploaded a bunch of pictures to my flickr account. Guest guest
Well, it seems that people universally think that 's brachy is not very noticable. Thank you everyone for the feedback. It's so hard for me not to see it after months of being super critical about her head. I have to admit that if I hadn't learn to notice the signs of brachy, I probably wouldn't notice anything at all and that is probably the most important point to remember. I have to let go of the fact that her numbers put her as having brachy that needs a helmet. To be honest, I'm not sure that I would have sought out a possible helmet if her head had looked like this at one year. I think I would have assumed that her head had rounded out as the doctor had said it would. That 95 percent looked so much worse than her head looks now. Also, thank you for the complements regarding her cuteness. I think so, but then I'm her mom. So, I guess i can fee comfortable in moving on. If no additional improvements come our way, then she will probably be just fine. Her hair will only get thicker and so it should be even less noticeable with time.
