Guest guest
Well I went to the surgeon today at 10:30 in the morning, then went to the orthodontist at 2:00pm. Here is my experience... At the surgeons office, they had to take 3 sets of impressions, so 3 top and 3 bottom. I got through the tops fine and then the trouble started! The nurse couldnt get my bottom ones to work at all. I must of sat there for at least 15 (no lie) molds. My surgeon final said he would work with the last three she took. My jaw was soooooo sore from it taking like an hour and a half. But I think I am a pro now lol. I also got a pan x-ray(with the hooks in ears haha). Anyways...then I went in another room and talked to the surgeon for a bit with my parents. I of course missed half the conversation cause they were still trying to get my stupid molds right. One thing that I was bummed about was he said I will still have a gummy smile after. I have one centemeter of gum showing right now and he can only remove about 5-6mm without harming the roots of my teeth. He did say there is a plastic surgery procedure for my lip that could help...anyone know what this is???? He did say that I will still look much different and better and my profile will not be sunken back so far. He also disappointed me in saying that i will have a splint for 6 weeks. But he mentioned he can only estimate for that so hopefully it will be less time! And he said that I must stay on all liquids for 2 full weeks, then I can start to slurp pasta and noodles and such. He even gave me some zip and squeeze bags lol. He was totally shocked that I knew what they were and already had some at my house He said I will probably get even more at the hospital. He apparently somehow knows the lady that came up with the bags! He also said that the surgery would be 4-7 hours long. He said I would have a cathater and nose tube while under but they would be removed before I get out of recovery. And I should be in the hospital for 28-30 hours only. So I should get released on my birthday!!! The appointment did make me much more nervous about the surgery though. I have surgery exactly 3 weeks from today (21 days!) Ohhh...then I also went to the orthodontist. Luckily he did not take molds like I thought he would have to!! That made my day! He did put my surgical hooks on. They are like knob-stick looking things that stick up from my wires. I have a few on each side and then one in the direct center on top and bottom. These two catch on my lips like anything! He also wrapped wire around all my brackets instead of O-rings. And I have been released from him until after surgery! All I have left is the surgeon's appt/hospital physical on June 7th. Sry this was sooo long..just thought I would let all the other pre- op people know how everything went! ~~
