Guest guest
, An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) involves removing the excess skin and fat from the abdomen and cutting the muscles, tightening them through careful stitching of each tissue and muscle layer. A panniculectomy is simply removal of the excess skin and fat. No muscle tightening is done. Pannis are not so great for people who have had babies or have otherwise weakened abdominal muscles, since the abdomen will still sag after the swelling is gone. If you have any intestine in your hernia, it can become strangulated, lose blood flow, and die. That is very, very dangerous. I am surprised that they are not going to repair your hernia at the same time they do your hysterectomy... That's commonly done. Hang in there! Can you tell me when each would be the preferred surgery? Is it possible to get one and then a year to two later the other? Also can you tell me what danger there is if the bowel is in your hernia? My PCP seemed very concerned about the hernia having bowel in it. Today while I was out I came home and found a message on my machine from my WLS telling me to wait until I was totally healed from the hysterectomy to get my hernia repair done. The hernia is bothering me a lot. It would mean waiting until next summer because I cannot take time from work for another surgery this school year. Guest guest
Theyare both considered an abdominoplasty. The panniculectomy basically removes the excess skin. With the ummy tuck frequently the abdomenal muscles are and tightened.
Guest guest
The panni is where you have a lot of excess skin hanging down from your stomach toward your knees. The TT would be the acual abdominal area. I had the panni done and need to loose about 75 more lbs to get the TT done so yes you can have 2 separate surgeries.
