Guest guest
Well almost packed...I keep stalling. Got back in from L.A. at 7am this morning so have been cramming as much activity in the day as possible without exhausting myself. I have all my supplies in order, largely thanks to my mother who bought me the mother of all blenders. It looks like a ship! She also got me a water pik which will come in mighty handy post-surgery. Ugh, am already shivering at the thought of gungky mouth breath and mouth sweaters as another member nicknamed them. I went for a manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) massage today just to get my lymphatic system opened up and flowing nicely. Hopefully my swelling and bruising won't be too bad as a result. Either way, the massage was really relaxing. Waxed my legs (which seems to have been an item on many womens to do list!), treated myself to a manicure and then spent an hour in and Nobles selecting fun books and novels to read over the next couple of weeks. Actually this was the best part of preparing for surgery. I'm really looking forward to having some reading time. AND yes, I know, I won't feel like reading for a while post-surgery. Had my last meal. Kept it light, Fish and rice and broccoli. Lord knows I stuffed my face silly while in L.A. so I think I've had my fill for a while. Famous last words! Now need to take last meds including fomatidine which the hospital gave me to prevent nausea. Fingers crossed. I would so hate to be as sick as I was during past surgeries. Currently this is my worst fear. I cannot tolerate vomiting again. Also just removed all my jewlery as instructed by my hospital. This was, I think the one thing that made me realize that the surgery is for real! Removing my rings, bracelets, even belly piercing, things I've worn constantly for the past 7 years made me feel so naked. So here goes. I can't believe my surgery date is practically here. Thank you to all of you for listening to me and providing me with unending support and advice. I don't think I would have been able to handle all the pre-surgery jitters so well if it hadn't been for this message board. Happy continued recovery to all recent post-opers, good luck to all my fellow June surgery buddies who are having surgery this week and I'll be writing to all of you soon from the other side!
