Guest guest
What do you do when you MUST use soy protein powder because of life threatening allergies to whey protein? My dh can only do soy, should he not be using protein powder at all then? Just wondering what to do here. Thanks! LoriNY thyroid > read an article that soy interferes with thyroid medicines. Just wondering what to do here.<<< If a person must use soy, I would think the key is to space it so it is not taken close in time to the synthroid. I would think a 2 hour buffer on either side of the synthroid would be the minimal cushion. Also, adding Amino Infusion 5000 once a day (serving equal to 30 g protein) might help, especially before or after exercise. It is an array of easily digestible amino acids derived from beef extract. I get mine from www.vitalady.com. Comes in raspberry, grape, and tropical punch. I like either the raspberry or grape mixed in crystal lite. Five tablespoons of the Amino Infusion 5000 equals 30 g protein. I am curious. What specifically is your dh allergic to in whey protein? I have heard of people having severe milk allergies/intolerances to dairy products, but they could still use the predigested whey protein because of the process used to make the protein. So if there is another allergy, I would like to know about it. Thanks. Sheri In sunny Florida
Guest guest
I guess, as always, you have to weigh the pros and cons and make an informed decision. Unless there is some reason he should not definitely use soy, then I don't think it will hurt him. This was just for information purposes, not to actually scare someone away from using protein altogether. Just my opinion.
