Guest guest
Hi everyone, Well tomorrow is the day of my surgery! I'm having upper, lower and genioplasty done and am nervous to say the least. I was totally fine until today, probably because I've been so busy the last week getting ready for it! I'm hoping for no problems, but am worried about the lengthy anesthesia. I'll be under for about 5-6 hours, and I've never been under that long before. I'm also 41 years old, and so worried about the age factor as well and hoping I get through the surgery and healing good. Also, and I'm a bit ashamed to admit this, I'm pretty nervous about the pain factor as well. I'm just not sure what to expect, but I'm hoping it's not horrible. The doctor said he wants to keep me in the hospital (at least!) two days/two nights to watch the post-op swelling, so not thrilled about that. I'd rather come home. But, what can I do? Not much, but just be happy that the doctor is cautious I guess. The doc said I probably wouldn't want to go anywhere the first two weeks and doesn't advise it either, so I'll feel rather cooped up I think. I'm rather upset that he told me I can't work out for 4 weeks...not even swimming! That's a long time to go and I feel like I'll have to start over with that - again - darn it anyway. I appreciate all the idea's, help and suggestions I've gotten here so much, and will try to let everyone know how things went with the surgery once I am back home.
