Guest guest
This is kind of a gardening food question. I've been growing basil in a pot and it was doing great until about 2 weeks ago when something started eating it (holes in the leaves). Today I went out to get some and the basil has little black "eggs" on it. They shake off, but I'm assuming they are eggs. I also found 2 white caterpillars on it (the culprit of the holes!!). Do you think the basil is still OK to eat as long as I get the "eggs" off (assuming that's what they are)? I'd hate to have something hatch inside of me...that's all I need!! Guest guest
Lol Marla, There are lots of insects that love to eat basil leaves. Is your basil flowering? If so, the little black ‘eggs’ may be basil seeds. Just shake off the leaves before using to dislodge any insect pests and look at the undersides of the leaves (where aphids like to hide)! I’m sure there is no danger of anything hatching inside you – I think stomach acid would kill any insect eggs… Carol CD 22 yrs SCD 5 yrs From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of Marla This is kind of a gardening food question.
