Guest guest
" I too, think it feels like giving birth, as it comes in waves, like bad spasms. " ______ What I identify with here is the pain in waves. The first time it happened, I told my husband it felt like labor. I discussed this with my WLS surgeon. He said the waves of pain are the intentines trying to push food through that may be stuck. He also said that if there is food stuck, it may not be pushed through and require emergency surgery. He said if the pain does not subside within three hours (which would mean the food has been sucessfully moved through) to call him or head to emergency. He confirmed what I had already observed. The pain does not always begin immediately. It may take 45 minutes, and also, anything can get stuck. I've had this happen after eating an orange and other food I thought would be safe. Other than labor, I've never experienced pain so severe. Gayle
