Hi all:

I was just wondering if 2 weeks is enough time to take off of work

for

upper jaw surgery? My OS gave my employer a letter today stating

that

he requested approximately 2 weeks of recovery time. I am a little

concerned because I have to constantly talk all day at work. But if

others have gone back with no problems I will not worry.

Hi,

I had upper and lower surgery and was out exactly 2 weeks. I had my

mouth wired shut and a splint in for 5-6 weeks. I am an elementary

teacher and also talk all day. I would say going back to work was the

best thing for me because I had friends and socialization that helped

get my spirits up. Going back to work also made the time pass a lot

faster. Ok, those are the pros now here are the cons of going back at

2 weeks. I tried to talk but being wired and with a splint most

couldn't understand me well. Also talking frequently or trying to

really made my mouth sore from wires rubbing my lips and cheeks. I

also still felt very week and dizzy due to my liquid diet. Weigh the

pros and cons and do what is best for you!
