Guest guest
Hi Amy, I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. I'm sure your muscles and feeling will come back soon. I have had the same concerns about my 5 year old. also has the same jaw as me. At her 3 year check up, her dentist measured her overbite at 8 mm, the next year it was 10 mm. She didn't seem too concerned, though. She told us that nowadays there is a lot more they can do to make a child's jaw grow correctly. will first get braces when her adult molars start to come in (around age 7) and she will get appliances to make her lower jaw grow forward. She'll have braces off and on until she stops growing. She may still need some surgery but it shouldn't be as bad as mine was (17 mm lower advancement, 5 mm upper impaction, joint reconstruction which relapsed and now bilateral joint replacement followed by another lefort). Hopefully she can avoid all the joint issues I had as well. So yes, maybe your daughter can avoid surgery. I wish you continued happy healing. > hi guys, > i have been so busy i barely have time to go on the computer > anymore, my family is taking a family trip to israel and my 10 yr > old son is going to sleep away camp for the summer for the first > time - so i have not had a minute to breath - thank god i am feeling > better- > i have been getting a lot of comments on how i look and i notice > people staring at me a lot- i have heard it all - " did you get a > nose job " - " you lost so much weight " - " love your chin " - " you look > so different i did not even recognize you " - " when you talk your > upper lip doesn't move it looks funny! Guest guest
thanks for the info i understand each ortho feels different about this, some are wait and see and others are more aggressive. i thought it was all skeletal and orthodontics could not change it, but i heard that while the bones are soft they can be moved? i don't want to miss my chance so i will see what he says and i will let you know. thanks for the info and good luck with your daughter. > > hi guys, > > i have been so busy i barely have time to go on the computer > > anymore, my family is taking a family trip to israel and my 10 yr > > old son is going to sleep away camp for the summer for the first > > time - so i have not had a minute to breath - thank god i am > feeling > > better- > > i have been getting a lot of comments on how i look and i notice > > people staring at me a lot- i have heard it all - " did you get a > > nose job " - " you lost so much weight " - " love your chin " - " you > look > > so different i did not even recognize you " - " when you talk your > > upper lip doesn't move it looks funny!
