Guest guest
I am looking for suggestions on trying to help my son sleep with his band on. It has only been 5 days but it is not going well. He used to take 2 naps during the day for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. Now with the doc band on he will only sleep 30mins the whole day. When we lay him down at night he will pass out because he is so tired but he will only stay asleep for 30-60 mins and then wake up screaming. We have not noticed any skin irritations, we have tried cooler clothing and a really soft pillow under the crib protector but nothing seems to be working. And we cannot bear to let him cry it out and just leave it on all night. Does anyone have any suggestions? I spoke to the clinician that did the band for us and she thought this was odd that he is having sleeping problems? Any suggestions would be great...Thank you! Guest guest
Hi, I feel your frustrations. My little girl was a little younger with her band, but couldn't seem to sleep good with her band on. We ended up moving her to bed with us, and along with a few other tricks she was sleeping great in a matter of a few nights. We took a really fluffy blanket and folder it to a smaller size and laid her body on it, except for her head. This seemed to work great, but we had to lay her down after rocking her to sleep first, so she would stay on the blanket like that. It helped her head lay in a more natural position, because the band made her head tilt to forward. Also, I would barely rub and stretch her neck in the morning to make sure it wasn't bothering her. Then I dressed her in shorts and a light weight T-shirt, which seemed WAY to light, but she never ever seemed cold... plus we could always cover her up, but once she got hot she would wake up screaming just like your son! And no socks on her feet. Hope this helps! Good luck! And I would always check for red spots, since he is screaming like that! But then again, my daughter would scream after being asleep for a little bit and her band fit great- I really just think she was hot. > > I am looking for suggestions on trying to help my son sleep with his band on.
