Hi everyone! As you all know by now, I'm only having a LeFortI to

bring the upper jaw forward - although I am having a bone graft to

close the cleft. They say I will not be completely wired - that the

splint will be attached to the top and then I'll be banded. After the

first two weeks (I think) they said it would be ok to eat really soft

foods (although I'm not supposed to chew anything because of the bone

graft). I'm also not supposed to suck on a straw because of the bone

graft. In all they said the splint would be in around 8-12 weeks

(leaning toward the longer...again because of the graft).

My question is - will I be able to use a normal size spoon to eat

yogurt or things after two weeks? Or would it be better to buy a baby

spoon - maybe one of those plastic covered ones? Additionally - have

you found it easier to drink out of any one type of glass - plastic,

small, large - or do they all just take practice?

I'm starting to collect things I will need after the surgery. I

ordered the zip-n-squeeze bags, and heat pack/ice pack to go around my

jaw, the aquaphor for my lips, and today I'm going to buy some ensure

and baby food. I'm also going to get some extra pillows for my bed.

Is there anything I'm missing? I have a blender and a juicer. Oh -

has anyone found a good place to order ensure/slim fast on line?

Living in the city makes it a b@#$h to carry really heavy stuff home.

Thanks for everything!!

-becky
