Guest guest
Anyone? I would certainly appreciate any input on when 'enough is enough.' Thanks again! Guest guest
Hi Tracey, When does your ortho recommend your daughter to be finished? I understand your apprehension with regression. I feel my son had a some regression when he graduated from his STARband at 7 months. But he had a severe case of brachy which is more difficult to improve. After my son's graduation, I bought a 2 " foam memory mattress twin pad and cut it down to crib size so my son wouldn't be lying on a hard surface. However, you have to be comfortable with that decision because it is not APA recommended and you have to be confident that your daughter has strong neck muscles. I also bought a Noggin Nest by Boppy to use whenever my son had to rest on the back of his head (diaper change, stroller, car seat). My ortho did not recommend part time wear but it seems to have worked out well for other parents on this board. If you feel that enough is enough, I would trust your instincts. Guest guest
I'm in kind of the same situation. My daughter is just under 3 mm at 6 weeks in the helmet. Her ortho said I could stop the helmet and any asymmetry left would likely resolve on its own naturally but I told her I wanted to continue just to be safe. My daughter is 7 months 1 week old. What we decided on is 2 weeks of more relaxed helmet time (all night and naps, but maybe off for 2 or 3 hours a day), then no helmet for 2 weeks to see what nature does, then go in for a scan to see where she is. It's a trade off. My ortho said you don't necessarily want to keep wearing the helmet when the asymmetry is so small since the Starband adjustments aren't necessarily that precise. But since a month from now, if she regresses or had no improvement though 'nature', she would still be young enough to go back into the helmet. > > Our little gal had her 6 wk scan today (she's in a STARband) and her measurements have gone from 12.1 to 3.6.
