Taking flagyl during Crohn's flare

My son is coming out of a flare on SCD. Our GI recommended to take 2 weeks of

Flagyl to help him out. I am a little afraid to loose the ground that we already

gained because the antibiotic will irritate his stomach. Does anyone have any

experience with it?

he is currently on Prednisone 10mg and nothing else.

My two cents about the flagyl - About two months ago, I began having a lot of

mucous and gas. Usually the first sign that I'm going into a flare. However,

it just stayed at the mucous and gas level for over 2 months. My dr reccomended

flagyl, but I was really hesitant to take it - I didn't want to mess with the

gut biology I was trying to build! I was also afraid it would send me into a

full fledged flare. Although I asked on here and heard some negative feedback,

I decided to try it. It worked great. My theory is that it " reset " my gut.

Mucous and gas and bloating were gone. I also ate lots of yogurt to try and get

the good stuff back.
