Guest guest
Our daughter has one of the clear Starlight helmets. I keep hearing that active helmets are better than passive ones. Does anyone know of any good experiences w/ the Starlight helmet? I'm anxious.
Guest guest
I believe Starlight is advertised as active. It is modified by heating the plastic shell and reshaping it as needed. There were some success stories about a year ago (I'm guessing), but I don't remember much recently. Please keep us posted on your daughter's progress. Orthomerica also makes a Clarren helmet, and that is a passive product. -christine sydney, 4 yrs, starband grad > > Our daughter has one of the clear Starlight helmets. Guest guest
My son had a Starlight band a couple of years ago. We had great success with it. The starlight is an active helmet. is correct that the plastic modified with heat. I liked having the clear helmet, I was able to easily tell if Tyler was too hot or if the helmet needed to modified. Also cleaning it was super easy and we didn't experience that stinky smell that I've heard other helmets sometimes get. Good Luck to your daughter JackieMom to Tyler, Starlight Band 07/2007 - 12/2007 From: christineashok <christineashok@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Thu, February 25, 2010 4:29:55 AMSubject: Re: Anyone have good results with Starlight? Guest guest
To add to what said--they also make the starband. Here's a link if anyone is interested. http://www.orthomerica.com/products/cranial/cranialindex.htm > > > > Our daughter has one of the clear Starlight helmets. Guest guest
Did the facility just use this helmet type or is there a particular head type that the Star light is used for? I'm just curious. Re: Anyone have good results with Starlight? I believe Starlight is advertised as active. It is modified by heating the plastic shell and reshaping it as needed. Guest guest
If you check out this page on Orthomerica’s website you can see all of their different bands and what head shape they treat: http://www.orthomerica.com/pdf/starchart.pdf One thing the chart doesn’t mention is that all the bands are active with the exception of the Clarren Helmet which is passive (you have to read the description of each band on the website to get the full details). Guest guest
The facility does generally use the starlight side opening band. The orthist has used the starband in the past. She said that she had good success with both but really did prefer working with the starlight. One of the things that she liked was that she could visibly see and mark any pressure points on the helmet. I also liked this because I could see if he had a growth spurt and needed an adjustment. We used Children's Care Rehabilitation Center in Sioux Falls, SD. I've talked to other parents who also were happy with their starlight results.
