Tiny Celebration

I finally passed the " 200 lbs lost " mark and I am so happy I had to

share. I had surgery 25 months ago in Oct. of 2001. I lost @ 150

lbs the first 15 months but stopped. I wasn't eating right and my

weight loss came to a standstill for about 4 or 5 months. I spent a

lot of time beating myself up for not taking better advantage of

my " 18 month window. " I decided last June after visiting the

dietician that I was going to try really hard to lose the rest of the

weight. She suggested keeping a food journal daily and boy did that

ever help. It made me aware of my calories, protein grams, etc. and

really helped me get everything under control. Since then, I have

walked 190 miles on a treadmill, really worked hard to eat protein

first and drank my water. I have lost 50 more pounds and I never

thought it would happen.

I credit my psychologist for helping me get my head straight also.

This allowed me to focus on my exercise, food intake, etc. and it has

made a world of difference. Someone recently said you have to feel

good about yourself and be mentally healthy to stay on top of your

health and that is so right. I was so depressed that I didn't want

to leave the house or really live to be honest, but with a little

medicine, therapy, exercise and weight loss, I feel better than I

have in 20 years. Yippee! The only bad thing I do is drink with my

meals. I have seen people talk a lot about this lately and someone

is probably going to flog me for saying it but I do. Not a lot but I

do have a little sip while I am eating.

I feel so blessed also that I had an excellent surgeon. He did an

outstanding job mechanically on me (proximal RNY) and really set me

up for success. I hear so many stories of surgeries that were not

done correctly and it really makes me thankful every day for Dr. Dyer

at CMC in Nashville. I also wanted to say that it is possible to

keep losing after the 18 month window and hope that maybe this post

will encourage someone to keep trying. I fully intend to lose

another 50 lbs and after this past six months I really feel like I

can do it. I plan on having a BIG celebration if that happens

instead of a tiny one. tee hee...
