Venessa > Welcoime to Pecanbread and SCD for Autism . Use Knox unflavored gelatin packets to set. (There are also Kisher brands I believe) Here are the juices that are approved: Tropicana Pure premium OJ -Dole pineapple juice -Heinz and 's Tomato juice -The Knudsen's *Just Juice* line (not the rest of their products): Just Black Cherry Just Blueberry Just Cranberry Just Pomegranate Organic Just Concord Grape Organic Just Tart Cherry -Kedeem Organic grape juice -Welch's 100% Grape juice (Red, Purple and white) IMPORTANT NOTE: A while ago, a list member called both Welch's and Tropicana about their calcium fortified juices. BOTH companies use a calcium supplement that has starch in them. This makes their calcium fortified juices illegal. When you make your " jello, " use 1/4 cup cold water (sprinkle on powder) 1/4 cup boiling water (to dissolve the powder) 1/2 cup of additional water ( as we dilute juices) and 1 cup of juice Carol F. Here is a link to a list of legal juices: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/message/61584 Dilute your juice with water (half and half). Any plain gelatin (no flavor) such as Knox or a store brand is fine. , mom to
Guest guest
I would give two to three days between introduction of a food to make sure that there is no negative reaction. Remember that reactions can vary anywhere from constepation to diharea to rash to behavioral issues to anything else that is either abnormal for your child or just something that you think is suspicious. Also, make sure to peal, seed, and cook all fruits and veggies for quite some time. It will be several months before she is ready for raw produce. You can make your own gelatin by using an unflavored gelatin like Knox brand, and an SCD legal juice. For the intro diet, use grape juice. Welch's 100% grape juice is SCD legal, and easily found. It is the kind in the big plastic bottle on the juice aisle at the grocery store. You can also use any other SCD legal juices like Tropicana Pur Premium orange juice(original without calcium), the Just Juices line from Knudsen. Follow the instructions on the back of the gelatin box for making your own gelatin. Meleah Intro Diet Hello, I have decided to do intro diet with daughter (ASD 31/2) and really want to get this right. Just a couple of questions: I would love to make my own Fruit Gelatine. What " Juice " and " Gelatine " do I use. She does not have constipation or diarrhoea now after eating all legal foods for a month so, if I do intro diet for two days, how long on each step after that. I do not think she is going to be very happy because she eats such a huge variety now so I would like to do it all properly and get on with it. Any suggestions would be great. Guest guest
The only two juices that are legal on intro are grape juice (Welch's, Knudsen Just Grape, Kedem kosher) or fresh-pressed apple cider. Both can be made into gelatin, or diluted for a drink. Patti Intro Diet Hello, I have decided to do intro diet with daughter (ASD 31/2) and really want to get this right. Guest guest
Hi... I don't exactly know how to advise you on the juice. I can't be sure about any brand you might find there. Only two types of juice are allowed on Intro..... grape juice and apple cider. You local brand of grape juice.... labeled 100% grape juice, with nothing added.... *might* be okay, however, you'd really need to verify that by contacting the company, since we don't have listings of Australian brand names. The only other juice that's allowed on the Intro diet is apple cider.... and it simply needs to be fresh-pressed.... the type that is unfiltered, uncooked (except just to pasteurize). This cider will be found in the refridgerated section of a grocery store.... quite perishable...... or is sometimes found at local farmer's markets here. I don't know if you have the equivalent there. If you have access to a juicer (perhaps borrow one if you don't own one), the kind that filters out all pulp and fiber, you can juice your own apples. That would be legal and acceptable on Intro..... just be sure to dilute. There are suggestions for getting started with a " picky eater " on the website, www.pecanbread.com in the section titled " Overcoming Difficulties " . I hope that helps a little. Be sure to look over some of the kid-friendly recipes in the recipe section there, too..... and ideas for the Intro diet for children on the spectrum in the " Food Preparation " section. Patti Intro Diet Hello there, I have been waiting on an answer from the Australian SCD groups but no one seems to be around. Please USA friends I want to start intro diet and want to get it right. I have found gelatine here that says " unflavoured gelatine " but also has preservative 220. Is this ok, it is made from beef. Also, all the juices that you all suggest on archive messages we do not have here, so what would I have to look for to pick legal juice to make jelly (gelatine). Also, do I still give her any probiotics or oils or meds during intro diet. She eats everything at the moment so I am wanting to get on with this because it will not be easy. If anyone has any suggestions for 31/2 ASD high functioning and strong minded little girl to make this easier, would be appreciated.

Guest guest
Enzymes CAN cause problems for some individuals.... especially if they have a lot of inflammation or ulcers. I would definitely suggest doing the diet without them until he is doing MUCH better.... making good progress with SCD. Then, after he's healed some, you *may* want to try enzymes again... but you certainly don't have to. Enzymes are not part of SCD protocol. Patti Intro Diet Hi guys, I'm new to the list, have ordered Elaine's book and read the pecanbread site. I need to get moving as my 7 year old has got terrible pains with his tummie, and cannot go to school right now (has been going on for years, worse in the last few months, and absolutely terrible in the last two days following 1/4 of a capsule of digestive enzymes.) Apologies, but I have not done a search on the group yet, but just wondered if my boy can have cooked peeled fruit on the intro, as I'm not sure he'll go for the other options on the pecan bread site. Are any other foods really easily digestible and suitable for the intro. Any help much appreciated.
