Guest guest
Hi all, Just a quick post as I was released from the hospital today. Been a frustrating day. We couldn't find the antibiotic surgeon prescribed, ended up with Clindamycin which burns throat so am having to take with other food. They didn't extubate me until yesterday morning and what an experience that was, then they moved me to a regular room from SICU (where I was getting excellent care). It was like the regular floor could of cared less about me - monitor was going off all night waking me up, they forgot to hook up IV pump, you name it. I was just glad to get out of hospital. Trying rest a motel, but there a zillion kids and we are by the pool. Need I say more!! So I'm just putting my ear plugs on and trying to shut it all out. I'm still quite swollen, the lower bandage can come off tomorrow. Thank goodness. Other than they had to put an arterial line in arm and do a juglar vein for venous access - I told them I had lousy veins and they couldn't use the mastectomy arm, all did go exceptionally well. Surgery was done in 5.5 hrs. No complication other than I lost about 3 pints of blood - hemoglobin down to 8, which my body should recuperate on it's own. He didn't want to transfuse me as I was having any heart or oxygen problems. I'm going to rest somemore and see if I can shake this horrendous headache. Will write more later.
