Guest guest
Hello, Greetings from Idaho! - I talked with my wonderful OD, Dr. Slattery, by phone today. I brought him up-to-date on my OMS consult that occurred last Tuesday. He told me that he hadn't talked with my OMS since before my Orthognathic Surgery consult. Apparently, both my OD and OMS agreed that a BSSO was warranted and that the LeFort was a possibility, but they both also knew my desire to have only the lower done. I guess that sometime after their meeting, my OMS further studied my molds, pictures, and xrays (including the cephalometric tracing), and came to the conclusion that the LeFort was also warranted; his exam of me at the consult solidified that conclusion. I told Dr. Slattery that Dr. told me at my consult that he wanted to do both the lower and upper surgeries on me, setting back my mandible 4 mm and advancing my maxilla 4 mm as well as dropping down my maxilla so my resting smile would show my upper teeth. My OD told me that he's not sure if my OMS will need to do a segmented LeFort as well. I guess I will have yet another question for Dr. ! Also, I asked if I will need two upper bicuspids removed and my OD said that it's not necessary. My list of questions for Dr. is growing longer by the day! I think I've now, finally, decided to let Dr. do both the lower AND the upper on me! - YIKES!!!!! I DO trust both Dr. and Dr. Slattery, and I need to let them do what needs to be done so I can have the best outcome possible. Now I need to have a talk with Dr. and get some answers to my long list of questions! //That's it for now. Will keep you posted. ~~ Diane
