Guest guest
Most do have some numbness, at least temporary. I had minimal lower advancement, with some movement to the right, and did not. That was the first question my surgeon asked. I waffled a bit about altered sensation, but finally figured out that Nope. I had no numbness then, now, or ever since -- June 2005. My guy is excellent, experienced, and my surgery was straightforward, taking only 45 minutes. I am the exception, rather than the rule, I think, and am grateful to the gods of orthognathic surgery that such is the case. Guest guest
I am 7 1/2 months post op and your description of numbness matches mine... just to a lesser degree. My surgeon said it would take a good year to have full sensation back. Compared to a month ago, I can really tell a difference. It's coming! I was numb just like you described at 4 months. Really you just have to live with it, forget about it, go on with your everyday life, try not to worry about it, and just sort of " check in " every month or so to compare and you WILL notice a difference. Don't worry about it! You've got plenty of time.... I'm getting to a point where all the areas you described have some kind of sensation to some varying degree at least (tongue, gums/teeth/chin/lower lip). Maybe it isn't back fully, but feeling is returning slowly. Let us know how you are doing and hang in there! I know how frustrating it can feel at times. I've more than once had to catch myself from outright panicking about my tongue still being so numb (feeling returning to my tongue is taking its very pokey time... it was half numb to start out with too.) Take care, Katja > > It has been 4 months now post-op. I had my upper, lower and chin moved > foward 12mm. Guest guest
Thank you Katja for your response. I feel alittle better now knowing I am not the only one. It is very frustrating and I am and will keep on tring my best to try not to let it get to me. Again thank you. > > > > It has been 4 months now post-op.
