Guest guest
Hi guys ! Oki, so I'll be leaving august 19th for a 6 weeks trip in China and Mongolia. First 2 weeks will be in Beijing, mostly in a hotel for a conference, then 4 weeks backpacking in Mongolia and South China. Alhtough I'm super duper excited about this trip, I'm also terrified about having a big flare which would spoiled my vacations. So I'm trying to prepare as much as I can for this. I already read the post on this group about backpacking/travelling, took all the advices I could from Kat, ordered S. boulardtii, eating loads of yogourt. I don't have any big Cronh's symptoms right now but i would say I'm " fragile " . I would like your input on those questions though : - What do you think about vaccination ? Hepatitis A, rabies, tetanos, etc.. - Would you take the malaria drugs ? - Does anybody had experience with Dukoral, that oral vaccine against traveller's diarrhea ? I don't know if I should take it. They say it can protect me from traveller's diarrhea for about 30%. I fear more diarrhea than taking the vaccine... - If I have diarrhea in China or Mongolia, should I take antibiotics (Cipro) ? What else could I do ? I will try to stick to SCD as much as I can. I will have some camping equipment like little burner and pans, and I will buy stuffs in markets, be careful with water, etc... But in Mongolia backcountry, without being able to speak a word and camping far from the cities, I don't know if I will have a lot of choices in front of me :S Beside, the space in my 52 liters backpack will be quite limited to bring tons of cans/vegetables... That's adventure !! If I survive this, I'll tell you how it went Annie
