Hello friends-

I just had a trip into NYC today - to march in the pride parade! It was

fantastic, but of course my stomach didn't fare too well. Anything that is

anything out of the ordinary gives me crazy bloating and cramping and

dehydration. Anyways, I did bring lots and lots of food - I was marching with

it for two hours! But with the icky stomach problems, I was dying for some

delish chicken soup. Or some electrolyte drink. I thought how GREAT would it

be if I could call an SCDer and get some homecooked meal that I didn't carry

with me for the past 8 hours....instead I headed home, icky tummy and all.

But how great would it be if I did have someone to call? Who would have

something in their freezer they could just heat up for me? And then I thought

of all the families who have tons of stress and planning traveling to a new

city, having to bring all this food, and decide where to go to a restaurant, and

if it really is worth the risk, not being 100% sure of what is in the meal.

What if there was an SCDer in that city that they could trust 100% what was in

the food, and offer a meal to that family and give them a couple stress-free

hours. So, what I'm suggesting is that there could be volunteers in different

cities, states, etc. that we could go to in an emergency whether it be on

vacation, or if we're having a really rough day...and get a stress-free

homecooked meal.

Someone probably has thought of this before, but I think it really should

happen! A moderator could be in charge of collecting the names of volunteers

and an ongoing list could be sent out to all the members.

Brilliant, right?!?

Cheers!

Ellen
