I'm truly sorry that you are having to deal with all those negative people in

your life. As for your surgeon, first thing I would do is report his

behavior. Are there any other surgeon's in your area? Support groups? What about

other

patients of this surgeon, could you talk to any of them for support?

What about seeing a mental health professional? Someone outside of the

situation might be able to help.

I understand about the emotional eating problem. That is the thing that

worries me the most about myself when I'm post-op. Will I be able to deal with

stresses without using food as my crutch? I've been in therapy for about a year

just to help me with that very thing. I wanted to get a handle on it and learn

other ways to deal with problems before my surgery.

It's difficult enough to deal with all this stuff without the added pressure

of family who aren't supportive. Try not to be around them if they are

bringing you down. This is difficult but I've had to break relationships off

with

people who were always putting me down and always had negative comments. (this

included family members) Until they are willing to accept who I am and be more

supportive they aren't allowed around me.

Try to keep in mind that even though you have regained some weight you still

have lost a lot and that is a POSITIVE! Do you remember what you did in the

beginning to help you lose the pounds? Were you exercising, drinking water,

getting in protein? Try to get back to some of those things, even if it's a

little

at a time. Focus on the feelings you had when you were able to do things

again for the first time that you hadn't been able to do before the surgery.

I'd be happy to stay in touch with you if you'd like. I'm just an email away.

Focus on the good things..don't let stupid salespeople get stuck in your

head. We have the control of how we let others affect us.

Sincerely,

Dawn in Orlando
