Guest guest
Wow , It sounds like you have been through a lot! That is great that you have been cleared to start chewing until next week. I have not been cleared to chew as of yet. I long for that day to happen. I like you am still having difficulty opening my mouth more than a finger wide. My spoon keeps hitting my front teeth when I try to eat because I forget I can't open my mouth..(haha) Also I had an open bite before the surgery and a spoon would fit right in without even opening my mouth..(haha) My recovery seems to be staying the same as of right now. I am trying so hard to have some patience because I know this surgery surely requires a bunch of it. I still have quite a bit of swelling in my upper lip and cheeks. My main goal is to get some energy back because I am going to make an attempt at returning back to work next week after 4 weeks off. I would of went back sooner but have been running a low grade fever for quite some time so the OS changed my antibiotics, which seems to have helped the fever. Anyway, you will be just fine on Wednesday! Go in there with a positive attitude and think to yourself that after jumping this hurdle you are almost to that finish line! YAHOOOOO!! --Caboose > Hi , > > I had a combined Le Fort one and two maxillary osteotomies, as well as having my nose lengthened etc. They also took a bone graft from my hip, which was very sore after wards I was confined to bed for 3 days! Not that I felt like getting out of bed anyway. > > My recovery has been one nightmare after the other. After the surgery my hair started falling out which has left me with four bald patches, hair is slowly growing back but not fast enough for me. My surgeon was very shocked to see this happening as he had never seen it before. He has put it down to stress if the surgery, limited blood supply to the skull for so long while he was " fixing " my nose lol. and my body's way of fighting back after being through so much. > > Then the scar on my hip opened because it was infected, it was not a pretty sight. And then the re-occuring infection. > > I was given the all clear to eat some " proper " food until the surgery on Wednesday but I am struggling to eat anything that needs chewing. I'm also working on the spatulas, I can't open my mouth very wide and my surgeon is concerned so I am have to work as hard as I can on the spatulas to see if it will help me open my mouth wider so far no good. Someimes I wonder if they know what pain is, I would like to see them after having the surgery. > > I am getting nervous all ready about Tuesday and Wednesday. Once I get to the hospital I will be ok! > > How's your recovery going? > > > > > --------------------------------- > Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page > >
