Guest guest
, Some years ago I saw a beautiful watermelon cake. It was a gorgeous melon, bright pink inside. It stood up, the long way-- a smallish/personal size melon. The bottom was sliced off. the top was sliced off. So it stood solidly on a cake plate. It was decorated with overlapping slices of kiwi. And of course, there were candles. decoration possibilities abound-- if watermelon works for your almost- six year old. and if you want to try a really different kind of cake. On a separate note.... my daughter turns six at the end of July. I have always made her a special cake that is different from the one her party guests have because of her nut allergy, but now on the SC Diet, we're more limited. I saw the Autumn Cake recipe on Pecanbread.com that doesn't require nuts and plan to try it. Are there any others you recommend? Has anyone tried to make the muffin recipe as a cake? Thank you. ~Mom to soon-to-be six year old daughter with ulcerative colitis (dx '10), uveitis (dx '08), juvenile arthritis (dx '06), food allergies, seasonal allergies and asthma (dx '05) Back to top Reply to sender | Reply to group | Reply via web post Messages in this topic (2)
Guest guest
Thank you Ruth! That is a fantastic idea. A few of the children in her class have multiple food allergies so I always try to accommodate them (e.g. one eats straight frosting, but only certain brands are acceptable). A fruit cake would work for not only my daughter but all the other children with egg, nut, dairy and soy allergies. My daughter adores fruit, so I love this idea. Thank you!!Subject: re:nut-free birthday cake suggestionsTo: sclotdebro@..., BTVC-SCD Date: Thursday, July 1, 2010, 11:33 PM,Some years ago I saw a beautiful watermelon cake.It was a gorgeous melon, bright pink inside.
