I'm not sure how much variation there is in wear time for different bands, but I am a bit curious why your son needs a second band so soon? after only 2 months? and only 2mm of correction? I understand they do grow out of them, but I would think there would have been more growth/correction to have outgrown so soon?? My son started his band at 6 mos and has had his only 6 weeks so far and has grown by 5 mm, and improved by 5mm, yet we are being told to keep it for another 4 weeks , so I am really curious about how to know when he has outgrown it, they havn't actually shaved hardly anything out of it either which suprises me, have they shaved alot out of your sons?? maybe that is why you need another band already?? Our ortho says my son is down to about 6 mm(hand measured) and that this is the normal range but that

since we have the band we can leave it on longer and try to get more correction. So I would assume you certainly would get more correction if you got a second band. I think it is entirely up to you what you are satisfied with, but I am sure you should see more correction if you go with a second band. . sorry maybe not the best advice, just offering our experience so far to you.

My son Holden, 6 months old, has been in a band for almost two months and will be getting out of it in about two weeks. I'm trying to decide whether to get a second band. Any advice? The cranio asymetry is 9, down from 11 when we started. The technician says the ideal/goal is asymetry of 2 or less . . . has anyone experienced such significant results from a second band? Thanks.

There's barely enough room to shave anymore out of the band. I believe next

week will be his last growth adjustment. The technician says he believes the

improvement is greater than 2 mm, but that the original measurement of 11 mm was

probably inaccurate, thus underestimating the original asymetry. You'd think

they'd be more accurate in their measurements so you could judge the end

results. I can see a difference in his head but not to the extent I was hoping.

Thanks for the feedback.

My son is 7 monthas old and outgrew his first band (literally had been shaved down to the bolts) due to his growth in that time. He doesn't have spurts - he just keeps growing. His asymmetry went from 15 to 11 with the 1st band, but his growth really negatively affects the torticollis which resulted in the plagio to begin with so despite his new 'moderate' status (vs original 'severe') we banded him again and I can say that he's already made progress in 2 weeks.Good luckSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: "mylameoww@..." <mylameoww@...>Date: Fri, 8 Jan 2010 18:22:05 -0800 (PST)<Plagiocephaly >Subject: Re: Second band - undecided? Thanks for the response. My son also has torticollis. It's improved, but his

head still tilts left so we're working with an occupational therapist and

exercising him during playtime. Have you seen good results on the torticollis?
