Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Welcome to the group! I was originally supposed to have SARPE surgery and was informed that I would have the expander put in about a month before surgery. The reason I was told they put it in so soon was to allow the teeth to settle down and get used to the expander before it is activated. I was told during the surgery the OS would split the upper palate in 2 pieces to allow it to be widened and then would activate the expander. This is the surgery that we were hoping for because it is an easier surgery & less complications than the Lefort procedures. Also, recovery is a lot faster. I was told I would only need 3 to 5 days off of work versus 2 to 3 for the Lefort procedure. I will be having a Lefort 3 piece procedure next week. You can also type in SARPE in the above search field and you can pull up more info about this procedure! Best of Luck, 5 more days till surgery! > > Hi All! > > > > I'm having upper jaw (palatal expansion) surgery on July 14th and > > really feel like I have a lot to learn when perusing all of the > > questions and answers from you guys and gals!
