Guest guest
Sara, Thanks for digging me out of the mess with the Caboose bulldozer!! I sure needed it torn down. I completely crashed last night. I had started on oral meds and don't know if they had a reaction with reflux or what - but at midnight I couldn't breathe, throat felt like it was closing up on me. So we ended up with EMS/Paramedics at the hotel and transporting me to ER. They gave my O2 and started an IV on way in. Of course the ER was extremely busy. Good thing was the ER physician's son had almost the same surgery 7-8 weeks ago, so he was familiar with the surgery. Bottom line I was there from midnight until 9am today. The x-rayed my jaws as I felt like the throat was tightening up on right side, then one of cardiac enzymes was elevate (which can be due to surgery, too), and then they had to rule out a pulmonary embolism. Hate to see my insurance bill!! In am surgeon came in and cut bands of mouth and said come see me when the discharge you. We think it was more of an allergic & reflux problem, so surgeon said DC the oral antibiotic we'd just started - infact he said DC all the antibiotic since I was having the lovely post antibiotic diarrhea on top it all. At office he decided I only needed two bands in until I seem next week. We went back to hotel, and my husband loaded the car, and I said a little prayer that I could make it home without a stop. Whew, we did it!! So glad to get home, living a hotel is no fun when you're ill. I've found the least exertion causes the heart to race, due to the low hemoglobin. So I just have to face I'm not " superwoman " . Geez, here I thought I was!! It's going to take a while. I'm with you on the ice - it doesn't do much for swelling, but it feels better. Now it's pumping the split pea soup, etc into me & taking the iron meds to build back up the blood. Thanks again for digging me out!! It's so nice to crawl out of that wall. And thanks for all you've done for people on this board. You must be getting already to fly to Italy. Glad to hear you have your splint is out. I'll bet you're looking forward to celebrating when you get to Italy. We'll all be there in spirit. Godspeed to Italy, Shirley
