I am female 57 years young and just received approval for my surgery in Nashville, Tn with Dr. Husted. I started this process in Sept. of this year and have been very lucky with the Ins. part. I will get my date tomorrow. It is easy to get depressed, especially when you are alone, I know I am also divorced with two wonderful children and two grandchildren but they live far away and I see them once a year.Keep your chins up and your boobs out and do not let people get you down.... > > > --------------------------------- >

Guest guest
Hi Judy, Nice to meet a neighbor. I had my surgery with Dr. Jossart almost 4 weeks ago. I have to tell you he is a wonderful surgeon (he's the director of Lap Surgery for CPMC) that is the hospital where Dr. J and Dr. R both practice, because he has a newer practice, the waiting for an initial consultation is small to none, and also because his practice is newer, you won't be waiting 4-5 months for your insurance stuff to be processed! He has an agreement with his patients that within 48 hours of thier initial consultation that their LOMN, letter of medical nessesity will be sent to their insurance company. He has studied extensively in New York with Dr. Michel Gagner and then spent 2 years as Dr. Rabkins associate. I am in great shape, thanks to him, and really respect and appreciate the fact that I can reach him directly within an hour of calling, unless he's in surgery! Dr. J and Dr. Rabkin have message boards on yahoo. Please feel free to join both. The url's are: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DS_Jossart http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DS_PacificLaparoscopy If I can offer any of my personal experience...please feel free to contact me personally at timarie @ Pacbell.net (omit spaces) and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Oh, and Dr. Rabkin offers a monthly meeting to learn about the DS and meet some post ops. I would advise you to attend one of those, even if you decide to go with Dr. Jossart because you can learn a lot in a group setting and meet some folks. Dr. Jossart will have his support group up at sometime first quarter and in the meantime, we pre and post op patients have organized some get togethers and do support each other. The nicest part is having total access to your " surgeon " at all times. Its very reassuring to be able to talk directly with " the man " ! Hugs and congratulations on this first step towards health! Theresa Surgery date: DS Nov. 19, 2001 Dr. Gregg Jossart Highest weight: 293 Surgery weight: 251 Current weight: 224 Height: 5' 7.5 " > Hi, my name is Judy. Guest guest
Welcome to the board! I hope that Zachary does great with his transition to the FAB. We can help you make sure that it's set up properly if you have any questions at all! There's no reason to be apprehensive if his feet are fully corrected and the brace is set up correctly. Many, many families have no problems at all. My daughter had zero issues (she started the brace at 5 months old, so we were very worried since she was older)- it didn't even cause us any additional sleep issues, for which we were very thankful! Keep us posted on his progress! Regards, & (3-16-00, lcf) > > Our son's name is Zachary and we are being treated at the Hospital > for Sick Children in Toronto by Dr. Alman.
