Guest guest
Hi all, Thank you so much for this group. I have learned a lot just reviewing your messages. I am an attorney working with an individual who is diagnosed with neurosarcoidosis. He is currently in prison, and his condition was discovered during his incarceration. He has some dementia with bouts of disorientation and very poor short term memory. These issues get him in trouble with staff and other inmates who do not understand his condition. I am trying to educate the parole board about his condition and propose alternative placement. His family is willing to take him in, but I am not sure that they are ready or realistic about the care he needs or the challenges that his disease presents. Does anyone have any thoughts about housing options – either the prospect of him living with his parents (with or without assistance) or in some kind of nursing care facility? If so, does anyone have any resources for me to talk to in NY or PA?Thank you in advance and happy holidays!Krin Krin FlahertyStaff AttorneyPrisoners' Legal Services of New York114 Prospect StreetIthaca, NY 14850Phone: x224Fax:
