Guest guest
Reid, There is no known correlation between clubfoot and sitting up. I bet Austin is just not motivated enough yet - he's just 8 months right? I would say this is within the realm of normal still. He could have some issue with upper body strength - you might check with your local EI or a PT if you are still concerned. Has your pediatrician said anything? > > I just wanted to know if there was any correlation between clubfeet > and not being able to get into a sitting position? Guest guest
Hi Reid Our son Ethan (bilateral) would sit beautifully at 8 months but he too couldn't get himself into a seated position. However now at 12 months he is fantastic at it. I can't actually remember how old he was when he started being able to do it but I think it was once he was crawling??? at around 10-11 months. I was slightly worried at the time as I'd heard they would probably be doing it by then but his cousin was exactly the same at his age and he doesn't have clubfoot so I just think it's one of those things that different children do at different times. Hope this helps settle your mind Kathy jones_reid wrote: I just wanted to know if there was any correlation between clubfeet and not being able to get into a sitting position? Thanks Reid Austin -8/1/
Guest guest
Hi Reid, We actually found that the brace helped Grace to sit well quite early - the tripod effect Grace would be laying on her back and kinda twist to one side and use her hands to push herself up. So personally I feel that the brace helped her do things a bit earlier than she may have otherwise. Austin is 7 mos right? I would try to show him how to get into a sitting position with his brace on. Try to tempt him with a fav toy then if left to his own devices, he will figure it out pretty quick I would think. This is around the time that Grace got good at sitting by herself (had the skills and the desire) so I don't think Austin is behind at all & Grace 20mos urcf FAB 13 hrs > > I just wanted to know if there was any correlation between clubfeet > and not being able to get into a sitting position?
