Guest guest
, The thirst was throwing me off, but now that you mentioned the other signs that Tori has, is it possible that she has a urinary tract infection? Max used to have the same signs and the urine tests always came back normal in the peds office, but our wonderful pediatrician had us start up with a urologist at one point. He never said that Max had a UTI, but he did treat him with peridium, a medication that numbs the urinary tract so that it does not hurt, and told us to give him lots and lots of liquids. Then Max also started having accidents and bedwetting. He had to start on another med to control that - it was a nasal spray. The doctor said that Max had all the signs of a UTI, but called it something else. He just treated the symptoms. I HATE it when a doctor will not listen to the parent. Moms, and some dads, know so much because they live with the child. They are usually the first ones to know if something is not right. Guest guest
Yes, call a pediatric urologist. You're so lucky you don't need referrals. Our old plan was that way. I hate having to get a referral for everything. It wastes time, paper and, in the end, money. Jodi Z
Guest guest
, I am so sorry for your crazy day. How is Tori feeling today? Did anything ever come about with the UTI? I think I may have missed a posting or two about that. I know the feeling that before knowing anything that would be more calm about any problems with the kids but as soon as you become educated about something and aware of what to watch for all of sudden you feel like you're not sure of what exactly to do. Where is the house that you love? Is it further up in NY or closer to NJ? I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I hope Toris is feeling better. Guest guest
, When you see Dr. H. again, you should tell her what that doctor oncall said. She was totally WRONG!!! If our kids are spilling ketones, won't eat and can't keep food down, they need to be admitted. Just a couple of hours of IV fluids won't do it. Jodi Z I'm glad that Tori is better today. She probably did not have that virus for only 5 or 6 hours. She was probably not feeling well earlier in the day and did not know that she was sick. At least she is eating now and the ketones are gone. Just remember what to do next time. And get MEAN with the ER docs if you have to. Well, you don't have to be mean, you just have to be ASSERTIVE. It's taken years for us to learn how to do it. I hate it.
Guest guest
I hope Tori is still starting to feel better this afternoon. She went to summer school this morning and was fine her teacher called around 11 am and said Tori had been crying and fussy all morning and said that she did not feel good so I had go get her and bring her to me I was in town alreay. She had vomited 5x with 2 hrs and when I got her she did 2 more times, she was real tired and weak I called her ped and she said to take her to the ER so I did she called and said to out her on IV fluids we sat there for 2 hrs before they did and they drew blood pricked her finger cked her temp. I called to DR H office they had already left for the day so I paged the on call DR Macrdo she called me back then spoke to the ER Dr. they said because her bllod work and elecrolites were good that she could go home she had not eat anything all day and while in the hospital she was not responding. I got scared I thought DR H said if there sick they need to be admitted until eating again. Well we are home she is still passing keytones and running a fever she did eat some soup But they told me that it was just a virus. I do not agree with them because it hit her so fast and she seems to be fine now.

Guest guest
I agree - I've noticed that even a gentle touch to their shoulder or cheek does help to get them to focus their attention on you - if only I could remember that when I'm not happy with my son <grin>. - H > yes that does work, you have to get at their eye level. sometimes i > will pick christopher up in fromt of me and talk to him!! > > jodie c
