Guest guest
Hello all, Well guys I guess I am back on the list! I used to be on the list in the past but left because I tried going GFCF with my little guy and it did not seem to help. My son is 4 and has autism. Well recently I decided to have him tested for allergies. It was a blood test called the " Immuno cap " Has anyone heard of it? Anyway it showed one pretty substancial allergy. It was milk. Milk protein (casein makes up 80% of the protein in milk) So I guess I am casien free again. As I said we tried earlier(2 yrs ago) with the removal of casein and gluten and did not see any real differnces. My son does have alot of congestion (which actually prompted the testing) and allot of ear wax. He has not had any ear infections and does not have soft stools, but often has hard stools. Do you think the casein he eats could also be causing some of the other symptoms he has like hyperness, stims, some aggression etc???? I am very sad about starting the diet again I must say and a little scared too! He LOVES ice cream, yogurt, butter, and his all time favorite is cheese pizza. I just feel sad taking his favorites away. Does anyone have any ideas for cheese substitutes that are not totally disgusting! Something that sort of melts like mozzerella maybe? Also ice cream substitutes. He does like sorbet so that is an alternative. Do any of you have kids with the actuall IgG reaction to milk, and if so what have you seen with the removal of milk products? I have read that excema is also commen with milk allergy, my son used to get some of this, but seems to have outgrown it. He also gets red ears and cheeks, but suprisingly only in the Winter. Thanks so much for listenting. I have thought I would not be dealing with all this again, but I guess I must take the plunge with all the other brave dairy free kids and parents! You may post me privately or on the list. God Bless Donna
