Guest guest
Hi ! Lower right abdomen is your appendix! Does it hurt more when you push down or let go? Appys tend to hurt more when you let go. Also, beware of fever. Call your PCP if you suspect your appendix. Good Luck! ===== Debi-NH Consult NYC 11/29/01 Dr Herron/Mt Sinai BMI 63 __________________________________________________
Guest guest
did your surgeon remove your appendix? if so, the lower right quadrant of the abdomen could be tender from that area healing. but when in doubt, call the doc and ask. ease your mind so you can concentrate on getting better. mary y > > Hi there: > I'm about 10 days out from my switch and feel pretty good except for > some gas, and a sharp pain in my lower right abdomen. Guest guest
aha, thanks! I feel fine aside from that pain/soreness, so I'm hoping that's what Dr. K's office tells me it is. I'll call them in the morning. I did and I had some pains in that area and mucho tenderness. I went to my pcp and he felt around there and it was excruciating (he wanted to make sure I didn't have any hernias or anything). I couldn't believe how tender it was when probed or touched... The pains I got did come and go (and only happened immediately post-op -- I'd say the first three weeks) and I think it WAS gas. It always worked itself out. The physical tenderness must have been partially due to the gallbladder removal and swelling in that area... Guest guest
Hi Ann!! WOW - I live in Manchester too, just off of S Willow St. I work at the PO. I will be going to Manhattan very early on 11/29. What does your appt sched look like? Even though we have different docs, maybe we could car pool. What are you doing about a nutritionist and support groups. I keep meaning to call Parkland and ask their bariatric surgeon who he uses, but haven't done it yet. Procrastinating really bad. Good to hear from you! ===== Debi-NH Consult NYC 11/29/01 Dr Herron/Mt Sinai BMI 63 __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Debi, This is awesome! I live on Beech Street near Webster Street. My first consult is scheduled for January 7th. I'm hoping to get my surgery done sometime in February. When I called the doctor's office they said that seemed reasonable if all goes well. I expect to get most (if not all) my pre-op tests, etc. done here locally. I did go to the Parkland meeting and asked if their support system was available even though you had your surgery elsewhere and was told it was. The only thing was is that I was not too impressed about one of the nutritionists. She seemed to have a rather punishing, negative attitude. Maybe it was just me though. Many of the things she was saying was the opposite of what most people's experiences are based on the info you get on these lists. Anyway, I'd love to speak with you, or get together if you'd like. You can reach me at 647-1252. Hope to hear from you soon. It's really so exciting to hear from someone locally whose going for the BPD/DS. Everyone that I know of around here has or is considering the RNY. ann RE: question about post-op pain Hi Ann!! WOW - I live in Manchester too, just off of S Willow St. I work at the PO. Guest guest
Hi there: Thanks for replying. I've been out of commission for the past few days because of the holiday. The pain went away, so I think it was just tenderness because of the appendix/gallbladder removal. I also had quite a bit of gas! Over thanksgiving we had a problem with our sewer lines, and I hardly drank anything during the day - worried that I'd need to go to the bathroom while the plumber was here. That night I got these sharp pains in my back right side....I figured maybe it was my kidney's complaining and it seemed to stop after I got out of bed and spent the next hour sipping down a bottle of water! Has anyone else had this happen? Thanks! Guest guest
most definitely!!! if i didn't drink enough water, my kidneys were more than happy to let me know in a very effective way. lol then when i pushed the fluids, the pain would go away. so keep on drinkin'! mary y >> > Over thanksgiving we had a problem with our sewer lines, and I hardly > drank anything during the day - worried that I'd need to go to the > bathroom while the plumber was here.
