Hi, Kathleen, We're all different. But, my edema in my right leg went away after about 30 pounds weight loss. I stopped taking diuretics after about 75 pounds loss, though my PCP was gradually tapering my diuretic over the six months. I still wear compression hose during the week. I can get away without them, really, but they have become so comfortable to wear that I actually prefer to keep them on. YMMV (your mileage may vary), Steve -- Steve Goldstein, age 61 Lap BPD/DS on May 2, 2001 Dr. Elariny, INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Virginia Starting (05/02/01) BMI = 51 BMI on 11/14 = 39 (-80 lb.)
