Guest guest
Kelsey was 12 months old when she had her tenotomy. The Doctor reinforced her plaster cast with a fiberglass overlay to make it more durable. Actually, Kelsey took her very first step ever in this after surgery cast. Nothing in this whole treatment process has kept Kelsey down for long. Personally, I would have the tenotomy done if it is necessary before he gets old enough that it might not be as effective. At the time, it seemed like a huge obstacle but in hindsight, the time she was in the cast was nothing. Kelsey adapted to it all even the 23/5 in her FAB with ease. Hope this helps. I know the tenotomy is not a big deal, but putting him down for 3 weeks will be a challange, but that to is something we can handle. Wanting to hear from anyone who's child has had the tenotomy at a older age. Or hear the opinions of you smart mothers on what you think or what you would do. Guest guest
My daughter had an ATTT on one foot and a tenotomy on the other at 24 mos and it didn't slow her down a bit. Sadly for the Dr. who did the ATTT as he fretted about it but alas NOTHING and I do mean NOTHING, not even Dr. P's full leg bent 90 degree casts can keep her down for long. I'd do it now and get it done. He'll manage just fine. Trust me. I know! LOL Chris need opinion please Well as most of you know Karter has had more sores and has lost dorsalflextion. Guest guest
just had the ATTT done about a week and a half ago and she was just fine about 4 days later. They do manage to keep going no matter what! She still thinks that she should be able to play soccer even with both legs in casts!!! She is just nuts. LOL We have been playing lots of board games, videos, coloring, video games, and since it is nice out now....walks. Only 5 more weeks to go......... I think that it is harder on us than it is on them!!! I think that Karter will be just fine!! (You may get a few more gray hairs from the stunts he may pull in casts though!! LOL) Good Luck! in Iowa, mommy to 4yrs old, bilateral clubfoot, ATTT 04/13/06 > > My daughter had an ATTT on one foot and a tenotomy on the other at 24 mos > and it didn't slow her down a bit.
