The Friends moved to North Carolina in Charlotte!!!! They were

patients of Dr. Harbison's for years, and is 11 1/2 years old

now, so they have run the gamut. They are on the convention

attendee list that you got, so you can contact them directly. I

know that would be happy to talk to you about their

experiences.

Kim, we have moved 5 times in 8 years. It's so much fun (Not)

LOL. Anyway, I haven't particularly found any special science to

locating new physicians other than what you have already mentioned,

of which you are right on track. Each time I've moved - I've picked

many peoples' brains locally that I have met and of course, asked

for referrals from the physicians I'm leaving. In the case of our

Endo in Chicago - he was able to refer me to an Endo here in

Virginia. Although it didn't work out (the Endo in Va moved to DC) -

it's always a good idea to ask your current physicians first. We

happen to live next to a nurse in our neighborhood and I asked her

for the referral of our Pediatrician. I was lucky enough that he is

very proactive and immediately took our situation into his hands by

giving me a personal case manager and setting me up with all the

specialists deemed necessary for Ian's situation. I met with the

Endo he suggested and after our first appointment I decided I didn't

care for her approach. So....I told the pediatrician this and told

him I needed another referral. He was very willing to work with

me. Of course, now we are meeting with Dr. H because I think she is

the best for what we need - but, we should still have a back-up here

for emergencies. In alot of cases - I think it's trying a

physician - making sure they are willing to work with you and going

from there. I'm very fortunate - we met with our GI doc yesterday

and he's exactly what we need. He actually mentioned he looks

forward to meeting/speaking with Dr. H. He's very proactive and is

a great listener. He and I make decisions together. It was an

awesome appointment - my point being - that is what I expect from

every physician I work with - and if the physician doesn't meet my

expectations - then I go elsewhere.....no matter what.

I have actually heard nothing but great things about North

Carolina's health care system - so, I think you shouldn't have any

problems. My husband's family lived there for awhile and I was told

they have great physicians - and, if I remember correctly - it is

the Charlotte area that benefits the most. If I hear of anything

else - I'll keep you posted. Hope I have been of some use to you :).

Hope you are doing well with the weather.

Kim - one other thing. Hey - if you move to Virginia - you can move

out here by me! I'm always up for some company! We are 30 miles

west of Richmond. We love it here.
