Guest guest
My husband and I took Coby to Riley Children's Hospital on Tuesday. His appt was with the Pediatric Behavioral Center. We sat at a big table in a room with some toys and 4 docs (psychologist, pediatrician, and 2 ped interns) for about an hour talking about Coby. They watched him and asked questions. They left the room for about 20 mins to discuss their thoughts amongst themselves and then came back in to tell us their findings. They told us that they did not believe that he was autistic (wow, really!) These were their suggestions: 1) They gave me the number for a few local places that could help teach us to deal with his behavior. But they don't have any appts for 3 months. 2) they gave us a number for a place to get a language evaluation (they don't take insurance so all cost come out of our pocket) 3) They saw staring spells as well so they suggested we have a sleep EEG done, since his first EEG was normal 4) They did feel he was hyper so they told us to go back to our doctor about medication. Basically, I could of kept the appt with his doctor and been on our way to deciding which medication he suggested and started my research and agonizing over whether to begin treatment or not. Now we are back to square one and have to wait another month to get back in with his doctor. Meanwhile Coby is scheduled to have his 4th hypospadias surgery, so he has to have injections of testosterone. As long as the testosterone is in his system we will not be able to adjust any medication. There is no way to tell if his behavior is from the " man juice " surging through him or from just being Coby. I am soooooooooo frustrated!!!!!!!!!!! I have been fighting and begging to get help for Coby and for me for a year and a half now. We have not made any progress in that time. I want my sweet little baby back! Instead, I get crap from the in laws and criticism from everyone else. (He's spoiled, he just needs his butt whooped! It's normal 2 yr old stuff! He's a boy!) Ok, then why don't you take him for a day and see how normal it is. I love that attitude…give me a day with him, I'd have him walking the line. PLEASE! Because I don't, right! He has an extremely high tolerance for pain so you can NOT spank him hard enough for him to even notice it. Ok, I'm done gripping, well, for now anyways…hehehe Hopefully when we go back to the doc in Sept he will help in some way. I would just love an answer, but doesn't look like I'll be getting that anytime soon. le, mom to: Shye 10, Brock 8, and Coby (rss) & Carlee 2 yr old twin terrors!
