Guest guest
My eldest daughter, who works in the public school system here, just called me, upset. There is a new second grade student who came to the school with the warning that she might refuse to come in from recess. Well, she did refuse, so the principal and several teacher went out, chased her down and drug her into the school and suspended her for a week. Today my daughter heard blood curdling screams from the bathroom. She runs to find out what's going on and finds the principal and several adults in there, so leaves. The screaming continues and then the police appear and this girl is handcuffed and taken away! It seems she had gone to the library with the class, but wasn't ready to check out when their time was up. A student teacher told her she couldn't get her book since her time was up. She started throwing a fit saying that if they'd just let her have her book, she'd be good, so four adults shoved this girl into the bathroom where they tried to control her. According to the librarian and my aunt (who works there and was present when this happened) she wasn't being physical or threatening, just refusing to leave the library till she got her book. She was taken to juvenile detention. My daughter says she is a sweet little girl, who just, obviously, has problems at times. There are so many kids who are mishandled in this school, that my daughter has decided to go into some kind of psychology, for kids. I'm not wanting to start a debate. This was just a situation that I thought many of you might understand. And I needed to vent a little. Lolita
