Guest guest
, welcome to our group. If you didn't see it already there was an article written in today's Iowa City Press Citizen newspaper about my children and I going to see Dr. Ponseti. Here's the link, or press-citizen.com if that doesn't open. If they've taken it off already search they're site for Ponseti. http://press-citizen.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060506/NEWS01/605060310/10\ 79 I have 3 sons with bilateral club foot and none had any other issues. There's little chance your child will experience other problems or defects either. Just try to enjoy your pregnancy, OK? shawnee New to forum - Anyone live in Tampa Bay area? Hi. My name is and last week my husband and I were told that our unborn child has bilateral club feet. I am 21 weeks pregnant and this is our first child. We are waiting on results from an amnio to make sure there are no accompanying problems. Reading the posts here have greatly alleviated my fears and my guilt and my shame at my reaction to finding out there was a problem with my baby. I have spent, it seems like, an entire week on the internet researching and reading about CF. I have ready many, many positive things about the Ponseti method and will seek a Dr. trained in this method to treat my child. On the University of Iowa website it lists two doctors in Tampa , who practice at the Shriners Hospital, and are trained in the Ponseti method. I was wondering if anyone here is from Florida and what Dr's they used. Has anyone been treated at any Shriners Hospital or specifically the one in Tampa? I look forward to reading more about all of you and your experiences as my pregnancy progresses. And I am positive you will all be a God send when my baby is born and starting treatment and I need advice or just to vent. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
ee, I did read the article and loved seeing the pictures of your family. Your boys are beautiful. It's wonderful that Dr. Ponseti is still able to work and help children. I don't believe going to Iowa for treatment would be possible for me, so I'm hoping to seek out these Dr's in Tampa that Dr. Ponceti listed on his site as being trained in his method. Thank you so much for the positive thoughts. I, too, believe there will be no other issues with this baby. > > , welcome to our group. Guest guest
Hi ! Congrats on the pregnancy How exciting. I live in Central Florida (Kissimmee) and my daughter was treated by Dr. Herrera-Soto at Orlando Regional Outpatient Pediatric, they are associated with Arnold Palmer. Dr. Price is in the practice as is Dr. Albright. Along w/Herrera-Soto, they are all trained in the Ponseti method, Dr. Price is on the list, Dr. Albright did his fellowship in Iowa and Dr. H has been trained also. So, they are who we saw and were very pleased. Their number is . I've also heard good things about Shriners in Tampa, but have never visited myself. Good luck in your decision! Sounds like you are on the right track! Marcia whose daughter has a perfect foot! New to forum - Anyone live in Tampa Bay area? Hi. Guest guest
I haven't cried in days, but as I read all of your responses, I broke down again. This time, though, it wasn't because of fear and sadness. My tears came with a feeling of relief. Thank you all so much for being here and responding. > > Hi. Guest guest
Hi Marcia, Thank you so much for your Dr. information. Orlando is only 2 hours away from me so it would be doable for me to go there for treatment if I don't feel comfortable with the Dr.'s in Tampa. It's great to have choices. > > Hi ! It's amazing how reassuring know others have gone thru it can be, and knowing all is well in the end goes a long way too. So glad you're feeling a bit better. Hope you can enjoy the rest of the pregnancy now Marcia Re: New to forum - Anyone live in Tampa Bay area? I haven't cried in days, but as I read all of your responses, I broke down again. Guest guest
> Hi ! I saw your post a few days ago and my son is being treated at Shriners in Houston, TX. I found out about his club foot at 17 weeks and he was born at 32 weeks. Went through a serious of splints in the NICU and then began castings at 6 weeks when he was able to come home. Was being treated by UTMB Childrens Hospital in Galveson where they wanted to operate on him when he turned one (he is now 11 months). Thanks to this group I found that there is other options and began searching for someone else to treat my son. That search lead us to Shriners. They are wonderful! My son had a tendon release on March 15 and now wears a AFO brace during the day and DBB at night. His foot looks wonderful and he is now crawling. Shriners Hospitals does not accept everyone, there is a process that you have to go through and if you need a referal let me know. I fthe Shriners there is as good as ours then you are blessed to have a facility close to you. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have and keep your head up, God does not put more on us than we can handle! Guest guest
Hello Stacey! It's wonderful to hear of your great experience with Shriners. I have downloaded their application and plan on trying to get the baby accepted for treatment before he/she is born. I will certainly let you know if I need a referral. How long did it take you to be accepted? > > > > Hi ! > > I saw your post a few days ago and my son is being treated at > Shriners in Houston, TX.
