Guest guest
Hi I have 3 month old boy/girl twins Cole & Chloe. They were born 6 weeks earlier due to Chloe's slow growth. At birth she was 2lbs 10 oz but her twin was 4lbs 13 oz. Chloe's chromosones were tested for RSS but came back negative. They are now 3 months. Cole is almost 12 lbs. Chloe is just 7 lbs. She has some symptons of RSS. Low weight curved 5th finger and bad eating habits. Usually only 2 oz a feeding. I believe she has RSS. Her father had 5 sisters. 3 have RSS. His smallest sister is 4'7 " and is 75 lbs at over 40 yrs. I was just curious if anyone else has a family history with this. And does anyone give their children growth hormones? Thanks. Guest guest
Lori, I would love for Dr. Rena Falk, a geneticist at Cedar Sinai in Los Angeles, to be able to talk with your family. What you describe, 3 sisters with RSS, is extremely rare and almost never happens. Probably 99+% of families will never have a second incidence of RSS occur in their family. In our MAGIC database of about 700-800 families, we have had, gosh, I don't have the numbers in front of me but I believe I remember 3 families, and 1 has two girls with different fathers. If Dr. Falk wanted to talk to your sisters-in-law, would that be possible? Jenn > Hi I have 3 month old boy/girl twins Cole & Chloe. They were born 6 > weeks earlier due to Chloe's slow growth. Guest guest
Hi Lorilou It is very rare for there to be a history of RSS in a family. I can understand why your doctor was amazed. My children are also twins, but it is my son who has RSS. The children are almost 6. is 37 pounds and 41 inches, is 45 pounds and 44 inches. Good luck, Judith, Steve, (RSS) and (non RSS)
Guest guest
Lorilou, My.. what a story of RSS! At least you have a great amount of knowledge to draw from. I also have a 6 month old, soon to be 7 months in 4 days, that is RSS. She is 10 pounds 9 ounces, and I " m not sure of her length. I haven't heard of RSS running in families like that... I would love to learn more... that sounds very interesting to me. My mother is considerably short and I might have to look into a family history myself. Keep us posted as to what you find out. Do you have pictures posted of your daughter? I would love to see your baby, since our babies are the same age and weight. I'm new here and I'm not sure if you are too.. and if you are.. welcome! This is a great group here... very helpful! Pickett
