Guest guest
Someone said Dr. Gagner is not accepting any insurance anymore? I will be getting new insurance in December. I was already not approved by my previous insurance for the DS. I made sure to check with insurance to see if Dr. G. is participating. They said he was and he is listed on their site as being a participating provider. I hope this is the correct information. My insurance will be CustomBlue, a subsidiary of BCBS. I had to find this out from the LIST nonetheless and even went to a post-op appointment (three months post-op) while he was NOT on insurance and had to pay out of pocket! Ouch! No one from the office informed me... I know 110 pct sure he doesn't take ANY insurance b/c I spoke with someone in the finance department just yesterday (Gladys Mercado) and she confirmed this! So, be forewarned! However, if your insurance plan covers out-of-network, you may have to be subject to a deductable (mine is 300 dollars for the calendar year) and then they will pay a percentage of anything above that. This is one way you can still be covered and not have to pay everything out of pocket. Another consideration is to sign up with another surgeon in his practice. Dr. Quinn, who assisted under him (she assisted on my surgery and is fabulous although she is a 'newbie') just started with Mt. Sinai. Her insurance approvals are still pending at this time and I'm not sure when they will be ready but she should be on soon... And, there's Dr. Herron, Pomp and Ibarnet. They all take insurance. All the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt. Sinai/NYC 10 months post-op and still feelin' fabu preop: 307 lbs/bmi 45 now: 203 lbs/size sweet
Guest guest
I think he's not taking HMOs?. Just heard someone in the waiting room yesterday who said she's only paying her 20.00 PPO copay to see him. What's going on? > Someone said Dr. Gagner is not accepting any insurance anymore? I was told he only excepts some blue crosses and noghting else. I even had my first appointment cancelled because I think because he had stopped taking insurance, I then made an appointment w/ DR. herron and about 2-3 weeks later the office was calling me back apologizing about the mistake, saying he does take my insurance. I also only paid a 10 copay when i seen him in Oct. also I have received an approval letter from the insurance company. I also talked to the girl who took my insurance info at the office, she assured me he takes this insurance. I will check again tomorrow, my surgery is next week and i sure don't want to come out and find out i will be owing Dr. G for the rest of my thin life! this topic came up before months ago and it almost made me loose the chance to have dr. g. To the original poster , just keep calling the insurance peolpe at his office to you get an answer. i talked to at least three different people in his office that gave different answers. One thing is funny I have not got that slip from my insurance company yet saying " this provider has accepted... " i will look into that tomorrow. Good luck BB
