Dorthy,

There is a fat pad on the bottom of the heel. It will eventually

distribute and not be so prominent as Janie turns into an active full-

time walker. So, the terminology of the heel " dropping " from what I

understand, isn't really what happens, it's much more like as the foot

matures and the heel settles in, that fat pad goes away. I can't tell

you exactly when it will happen, it will be gradual, but it will be

sometime after she's running around and her foot starts to elongate

and not look so much like a chubby baby foot.

I have some pictures of 's feet at different ages if you'd like

to look at them. Go to the links section on this group's webpage and

look for T's pictures to see our yahoo photo albums.

,

I thought Beth said it kind of settled in under the calcaneous,

whereas before it's higher and pushed more towards the back/behind

the bone (giving the heel that rounded look). I didn't think it

actually went away, but moved into place and flattened out on the

sole. maybe I interpreted that wrong tho.

Where are you Beth anyway? Clear this up for us if you get a chance please?

A little late in responding, but Kori, I think you are right. From

what I remember Beth saying, it is like the fat pad kind of disperses

out around the heel bone (calcaneous) as the bone kind of presses down

into it when they really start bearing weight and walking.
