Guest guest
Hi, I don't have time to go into my own son's story now, but I just want to pipe in with my reaction, which is: get a band and do it as soon as possible. Your son is young enough so it will definitely work. You'll see improvements within a week and the whole thing will be over in a few months. You'll never have regrets this way. Later it will be too late. By the way, the whole process is nowhere near as big a deal as you imagine it will be. Good luck!!! > > My wife had been repeatedly asking our doctor about our son's flat spot on his head, including making a special appointment at 3 months, and we were told not to worry that it would get better as he began to sit more. Well, my wife went in at 8 months and saw a younger new doc who sent us to Physical Theraphy. PT then sent us to Cranial Tech. We were told that he has plagiocephaly with a 12mm difference. They suggested that we get the band. We talked to our regular pediatrician who told us that he wouldn't get the band if it was his kid. Nobody seems to notice the difference, except my wife and I, and even then it doesn't seem that bad. I'm totally confused and upset >
Guest guest
My son had the same situation. I went in for a special visit at 2 months for a flat spot on the right back side of his head. Doc said same thing, he'll grow out of it. At six months I got a referral to Cranial Tech since the flat spot had not improved. My son is now 8 months old and has been in the band for 2 weeks and I have already seen improvement. I am glad I decided to do something about it. He doesn't mind the band at all and seems not to notice it. yes, he may have grown out of it but I feel better that something is being done now to fix it. It took me a long time to decide to do it but now that I am there I am happy with my choice. > > My wife had been repeatedly asking our doctor about our son's flat spot on his head, including making a special appointment at 3 months, and we were told not to worry that it would get better as he began to sit more. Guest guest
My daughter's plagio was also at 12 mm and she started her band at 9 months old. If you are going to band, I would make your decision soon as you will get the most correction if you start ASAP. My daughter wore her starband for almost 6 months and graduated at 5 mm asymmetry. It made a world of difference and I would do it again. I looked at it as such a small window of time in her life. The band isn't something you can really do down the road. I wanted to be glad I did it instead of wishing later that I had done it when we had the chance. > > My wife had been repeatedly asking our doctor about our son's flat spot on his head, including making a special appointment at 3 months, and we were told not to worry that it would get better as he began to sit more. Guest guest
Our daughter was 12 mm asymmetrical when we started treatment (she was 7 months old). She wore the band for 12 weeks and graduated with 2 mm asymmetry. If YOU and your wife see the asymmetry and agree on treatment, find a Dr. who supports your decision. That's my opinion! Good luck!
