Guest guest
There is no way in hell Jossart will let you shower 2 days after surgery, so do what I did...giggles. I told the nurse that my doctor said I stink and to clean up and could they please get me a garbage bag and some waterproof tape for my tummy and some johnsons baby shampoo, soap, and talcum powder. (I went and stole clean gowns and towels off the cart and had them at the nurses desk as I asked em for my washing stuff!) and they got it all, I washed...oh, did I wash, and felt so glorious. We never did tell Doc, as why ruin his day. The bottom line is you have to have the iv out, and you have to cover all of your incisions with plastic and tape. I taped myself and gotta tell you I got soaked. Of course the tape that Doc uses is like commercial grade shipping tape, and they could have run me through the luggage handler at SFO and these bloody little tapes would budge! Laughing. I am serious. This is now 15 days post op and I decided I had had it with the tape itching me. Well hell, I pulled up skin taking those buggers off, and I am talking about non incised skin! I want the US post office to use this stuff. Hell, I am thinking of sending a sample to NASA to keep the tiles on thier space shuttles! Yeee hawwww, we are talking Tape in a Drum...industrial strength surgical tape! I will go and tape you if you really wanna shower. Day two I wasn't ready, day 3 I had the leak test and it wiped me out too much to shower, and day 4 you are going home...so, play it by ear, or I will bring my car wash utensils and give you a hand! Laughing, Best to you, Theresa DS 11-19-01 Dr. Jossart -16#s > Hi, > > Well, in two days it's my turn, wheeeeeeeeeeee! > > I was wondering if most are allowed to shower while in the hospital. > I hate feeling skanky and am hoping to shower the day after surgery. > > > Amy > 12/5 > Dr. Jossart
Guest guest
At Fairfax Hospital, they gave us the Bath-in-a-Bag [very large] wipes. They first warmed them in the microwave. I cleaned myself all over--with the help of DW. Not the same relaxation as a shower (but then, again, being treated with such TLC by DW had its distinct merits, and , to boot, I got clean. --Steve --

Guest guest
This entirely depends on the personal beliefs of the MD. Many do let you shower, sutures and all. Heck I showered with a big gaping incision and was encouraged to! A little soap and water never hurt. Guest guest
Nick, I hope you pointed out the General to them and told them they hadn't been privates in years! winks P.S. Hell, that is service with a smile...reminds me of an obscene joke about the Queen visiting a hospital and the doctor describing the difference between private insurance and hmo's! laughing. Guest guest
Hi Anita! I laugh everytime I reread Nick's impression of Carmen's accent. He's got it down pat! Yes, Carmen is wonderful! I saw her the day I was leaving for home and she gave me a big hug. Such a sweetie! Guest guest
Amen to that I hate not having a daily shower and I really hate that hospital unwashed smell that people have (me included) after surgery. Ughhhhhh... Tracey Did you get to shower in the hospital? Hi, Well, in two days it's my turn, wheeeeeeeeeeee! I was wondering if most are allowed to shower while in the hospital. I hate feeling skanky and am hoping to shower the day after surgery.
